As I’m writing this my Christmas and New Year plans are still uncertain – but then I guess that was the theme for the year now nearly gone. One thing is for certain, dance is what has kept me going throughout 2020, even if the majority of it has been online. And as things stand at the moment, it will continue to be that way come January. You can see the 2021 class schedule here.
But to celebrate the festive season, and to hopefully bring a smile to your face, I wanted to share with you what may have been my last perfomance of the year. Those who could make my End of Year Celebration will recognise this, and I ended up performing it at a fellow teacher’s event a few days later. I love this Oriental rendition of Jingle Bells by Chronis Taxidis. Hope you do too.
Christmas and New Year are traditionally the busiest time of year for any belly dancer, and I will for certain miss the many gigs, and driving around New Years eve watching the fire works as I travel from restaurant to restaurant. But 2020 has also opened many new doors for me, and I will see it out with optimism and great hope and excitement for the future, – I hope you can too.
‘Life happens for you, not to you’ so go ahead and make the most of every opportunity, challenge and situation you encounter. But above all, do it with grace and gratitude.
A big thank you to all my students, fellow teachers, dance friends and family – I wish you a Happy Christmas and a safe start to the 2021.
Happy dancing always (and now more than ever…)
