How to control your 3 step turns

By Ishtar Dance on Monday, October, 23rd, 2017 in Dance Coaching, Dance Inspiration, Learning, Your Dance Body 2 Comments

Turning is an essential travelling step in many dance forms, yet I often see even experienced dancers struggling to control their turns and spins. This becomes especially evident when performing for an audience and the nerves kick in. It’s a real shame because it affects the confidence of the dancer, as well as the audience’s confidence in the dancer. So I’ve created a short video breaking down the basics of a 3 step turn, as well as showing how to add moves and variations to it.

You can view the video here.

This is only a short and basic technique video, but an advanced turn technique video is following soon. Make sure you’ve signed up to my emails to get it delivered straight to your inbox.

I’m honoured to have been asked to produce this video as part of a bigger series on ‘good bellydance technique’ for JWAAD bellydance training. You will therefore also be able to see it and many more videos  on the JWAAD training YouTube channel.

I hope you find the video useful, and if you have anything to add, such as ideas for developing the move on a basic level or teaching it to beginner and improver students, please leave a comment below so we can keep the knowledge sharing going and encourage good quality and beautiful dancing.

Happy ‘in control turning and dancing’ – always 🙂
